WDOC partners with iT1 and Nucleos

CHEYENNE, WY β€” The Wyoming Department of Corrections (WDOC) has announced a partnership with iT1, a leading IT solutions provider, and Nucleos, a public benefit corporation, to enhance education and training programs for incarcerated individuals across the state.

This collaboration implements AchieveDXP, a digital platform for education and training, designed to deliver comprehensive education and vocational training programs to Wyoming's correctional facilities. The initiative aims to improve rehabilitation efforts and reduce recidivism rates by providing WDOC's inmate population access to high-quality learning resources and career pathways.

Key aspects of the program

  • Access to over 15 course providers, offering a wide range of academic and vocational programs
  • Integration with Wyoming's workforce development agency to align skills training with job market demands
  • Secure, dedicated devices provided by iT1 for learning and training purposes
  • Comprehensive tracking of progress and outcomes to drive continuous improvement
"This partnership has afforded expanded opportunities to the inmate population as the WDOC enters the electronic age. Staff can now provide one-on-one services virtually, which expands classroom size capabilities beyond what was once possible," said Scott Abbott, WDOC Prison Administrator.

Fifty-one tablets were initially deployed within the institutions in January 2024, with an additional 500 tablets deployed during April and May. The WDOC has been able to provide access to 604 tablets, distributed across all WDOC facilities. The rollout was made possible by the implementation of Wi-Fi in the facilities that links only to approved WDOC tablets. All tablets carry a high degree of security that limits what individuals can access, allowing only approved content to be viewed. The goal is to expand tablet accessibility to a 1:1 ratio.
